You know, being an entomology nerd, I typed the ant genus "pseudomyrmex" into the search box... I really didn't expect that I'd get anything, but what a pleasant surprise!!!

I see you've got what seems to be a Pseudomyrmex gracillis there. The common name for this species is "Elongate twig ant" though I've heard many others as well. They're pretty ornate, and if you get her under a scope, you'll see that she's got some HUGE eyes (a characteristic of genus Pseudomyrmex). Thier sting does hurt, but it doesn't last long, so not as bad as a bee imo.

 I didn't even know they could sting! I let her crawl all over me all day :p

I love ants, I just don't know anything about them :(

They usually won't sting unless provoked... sadly, this past Thursday I accidentally pressed my hand down ontop of one. Ouch!
Though like I said, it only hurts for a minute or two after the sting, so it was fine after that.

As long as you don't try to squish them, bugs generally don't sting or bite :B

I like the top left shot the best. The negative space just looks nice, although the angle of the ant makes it seem as if there were two ants ..
You're so lucky =( Macro lens.

I don't know, the ants here don't look like that so it looks like two Californian ants overlapping.
